A "Mom" is a woman with children, a "mum" is a flower [chrysanthamum], LOL. Three gueses what country I live in, and you can rule out Great Britain and Austrailia.
"Mum" is British, "Mom" is American. They both mean Mother.

Mom is used in America. Mum is used elsewhere. Not sure where the deviation came from. I suppose 'mom' is closer to Mother though. But in the pronounciation 'mum' sounds more like 'mother.

There is no difference in answer to your question.

Correctly it should be spelt as 'Mom'. However, with so many people spelling 'Mom' as 'Mum', its now been widely accepted that they're both referring to the same person in the household.
