The only way I have ever heard it pronounced is AIRS. We had a lot of Ayers when i was in the Navy and they all pronounced AIRS

Airs is the correct pronunciation. If if were pronounced Aries (as in the horoscope) it would be spelled Ayries. The letter y is used the same way the i would be. An example would be the name Hyde, which is pronounced the same way as Hide. Hope this is helpful.

I believe that it would be pronounced "Airs", as in
"She's putting on airs in order to show-off."
It could also be pronounced "Ay-ers".

You can pronounce it 'airs' or 'eye-ers'...i'd pronounce it the second way!
