It's probably because of the new house, but in my experience, when my cat starts sleeping in his litter box, it's because he's not feeling good, which drives me absolutely batty. A cat bed is a good idea, not to say she'll use it. Try a heating pad, with the temp on low, cat's LOVE that.

Cat Sleeping Box

Congratulations on getting a new kitty. Kitty is sleeping in her litter box because that's the only place she feels comfortable -- it's new to her after all, new smells, new sounds and no momma to protect her. You might try getting a cardboard box (bigger than a shoe box but not huge) and put a soft towel in it so she can snuggle. Maybe give her a toy. Putting her in the bathroom was a good idea because a small place helps her get used to the house without hiding. You might want to visit her occasionally. Sit on the floor and talk to her. Reach out with treats. She'll get used to you that way and then come to you. She'll crawl on your lap and you can pet her. Just be patient and she'll come around. Give her at least a week, maybe two, in the bathroom. Then when you think she's ready just open the bathroom door. Don't move her "stuff" yet. I think you'll know when she's ready for the move.

Yeah, I've had several cats sleep in their litter boxes when they're sort of terrified of a trip they just took or their new house. I'm not sure. They must be comforted by the feel of sand.

Maybe find a spot for her in a little cove somewhere and make a little blanket or towel nest. In my experience, new cats will search out any small, dark, soft space and sit there for a while before deciding to get up and sniff around. When I first brought them home, my most recent two cats hung out in a basket of towels in the back of my closet and a box of blankets in another closet. Since then they've always turned their noses up at beds from the store. So maybe don't spend your money on a fancy one just yet.

Its a good idea to give your kitten a small cat bed preferably one of those with a sort of hood on it. Cats love their comfort.Perhaps you should get some more uncomfortable litter for the litter box.! Some Kitty Litters are like small stones and wont be so soft for it to lie on. Hope that I have helped you a little.

do not worry about this, it is a natural thing, i have had many cats that sleep in their littler box, because they are unsure about sleeping elsewhere, in the new surroundings, and the litter box, is the one thing they do feel confortable , laying in and sleeping. if you have a vanity below your sink, empty it and leave the door open, or put a small box with a towel in it, in the bathroom , and the cat will not get stressed out from the change, one thing a cat, any cat hates , is change! i just change my furinture around, and my cats have to keep inspecting the room, and will not sleep where they always did, for a few days. !the little feline will get past this.just let her get use to the change, and put a litter box in another private area in the house, if possible

No... this often happens with kittens. They seem to like the texture and warmth of the litter. Don't worry, she'll grow out of it in a few weeks. Cats don't generally like to sit or lay down where they potty and sooner or later the kitten's instincts will kick in. When my Cato was a kitten, he used to do that too - especially when the litter has just been chnaged. The silly habit lasted about 2 weeks and then he stopped.

Congratulations on your new kitten! Give some extra TLC and yes, give the kitten a bed of her own, you can use a box and put a blanket in the box, cats love boxes and to hide. Purina has a kitten training DVD and booklet, which is free and very helpful. Do give your new kitten time to adjust and get use to you. Also your time and attention, with lots of love and you will have a very happy kitten. Please be sure to have your kitten spayed or neutered. We have happy cats, they are our fur kids! Best Wishes!

Get her a kitty bed or let it sleep on the foot of your bed.
My guess is that she has found a nice warm place by the heat vent in the bathroom.. :) and she likes the warmth very much as any cat does. Mine love the window to catch the heat of the sun. Veronica does love the shade outside but I wonder if its just because she can lurk there waiting for an unsuspecting bird to land in the bush.
