I've never understood this either. Most prayers I hear often begin with "If it is your will, Lord"... If it's his will, then why does he need you to pray about it before he'll do anything?
And if it's not his will, then your prayer won't do a thing.

I had the same question before. The answer I got is so that you will be increase in faith. That you will trust in him more. He want to use you to perform that miracle. In the story of 5 loaves and 2 fish, Jesus asked the disciples what should be feed to the magnitude, even though he knew what to do. Jesus asked his disciples so that they can asked God for help however they only look physically at what they have. Even though the disciples did not give the response that Jesus wanted, yet he continue to bless all with enough food and still have 12 baskets full left
God wants you to say it out because he wants you to participate in the miracle. When the miracle came, you will know that it is God who satisfy your prayer, not coincidence or help from man. Of course, God knows what is best for you. Even though you may not pray for it, God will still supply you. But I wonder will you know it is from God?

It's a method that religions use to give people hope. They know that the same thing will happen with or without prayer. The people who were trapped in the Twin Towers prayed until the buildings collapsed. The same thing happens but, the religions sell hope.

Prayer is powerful enough to change things.
Faith in the power of the prayer means the world to God.
Sometimes though, we have to understand that God has a different plan than what we would like, and no matter how terrible things may seem, He will bring forth good out of it.
God Bless! xo Anna

you're precise, God does understand all formerly you do something. this is not a sport that God performs. He love's you and the explanation why he nonetheless want's you too pray to him is so he can hear from you. And fellowship with you. How might you sense if somebody you adore began to stroll to you to talk to you, yet, Then turns around and merely sais, "Oh, He is conscious im jogging to bypass talk with him, So i don't might desire to talk to him" Make experience?

Because some people can't deal with situations so they need to find "comfort" in some outside source so they believe that there's a meaning to everything or something. So in reality they're just trying to find a way out of actually dealing with a problem.

If you don't ask for it, you won't get it. Knowing the outcome is also based on your actions like praying or not praying.
