I really recommend using www.bookingbuddy.com/
it really saves you the hassle or re entering a ton of info...and they are very helpful. I have to fly all the time and 9 times out of 10 i find just what i need on this site...good luck.

Airfares prediction ! Fare-cast, know when to buy cheaper fares. Found this site in a news article a short while ago.

Other option is, in Aussie at least some airlines have 'happy hours' (usually lunch time) for cheaper flights

Between which cities? I know where you can get "good and cheap" tickets for 1 penny + taxes, but it's only on some routes in Europe. Please edit your question to add which cities you're interested in travelling between, and you'll get higher quality answers. I'll check back later.

book far enough in advance, look for non-direct flights, try different airports in your region - fly out Tues-Thurs red eye flights.
