Move out...
You are an adult and you need to act like one by sitting her down and tell her you are an adult not a child stop treating you like one and tell her you do not appreciate her embarressing you in front of friends and family.
If you are an only child and your mother really wants to hang on to you, you are her baby, but still she needs to let you grow up.
You just need to tell her straight and if you do not live at home tell her you will not have any contact with her and she is to have none with you until you can be treated like an adult. Tell her you are sick and tired of it and you are not going to put up with it any longer. It needs to stop and it needs to stop now.
If you have been letting her get away with it, treating you like a little kid she is going to continue.
With the embarressing side if it doesn't stop, this is being a bit mean but do it back a few times in front of friends and family and I am sure she will soon realise its not the funny anymore and will stop.
Good luck

You are 23, but do you act accordingly? Or do you still act like a 14 year old boy? Maybe your mom is treating you the way she thinks you are acting. Have you tried talking to her about it. If so and it has not worked then you should definitely get out and explain to her why you are leaving.

well do you live with her and if so thats the main reason she dosent want you to grow up, she wants you to be her little boy forever. what i would do is take her to dinner and talk to her about it order your meal and wait for it to come out then start to talk so she wont leave or make a scene then let her know that your not a little boy anymore, that you need her to respect you as a man and understand the she belittles you in front of everyone you know.

she's your mother and she just wants to love you.I'm a mother also and i am so protective of my kids only because I love them and only want the best for them. She's not trying to be embarrassing or anything but,if it's truly a problem for you which it should not be then let her know easily.don't get an attitude or anything like that just say look mom I know you want to mother me because you love me but,I am an adult and some things I would like to do for myself.let her know that some things bother you in public suggest that she do them in the privacy of your home and she will understand.

Start acting like a child and when you're by yourself, bust up laughing and think of more things to do.

Hey, wait until you're 53 and she does that. (My mother still would if it hadn't been for a stroke.)
She's not going to change. The best way I found to handle it was to just separate myself from her. If that's the way she wants to be, fine, but you don't have to stick around and take it.
