I take one xanax a night to calm me down enough to go to sleep. I have been doing it for six years now. Xanax has helped me fall asleep throughout some of the toughest times in my life ie Graves Disease, Sciatica, breakups etc. My doctor doesn't want to prescribe it anymore because she feels that I'm addicted and she also told me she fears that she's going to lose her license. I feel ashamed that I take something to go to sleep and don't tell anyone about it. Only a handful of people know about it and they don't judge me but my doctor judged me and they want me to go into rehab. I don't abuse it, I only take one a night! I'm in a tight situation because I'm forced to buy meds online or get them when I go abroad. What should I do? I've read that getting off xanax can take up to two years before you feel "normal" again. I hated my life before it because I've always had a hard time shutting down at night. BTW Ambien sucks. Xanax doesn't give you a hangover.

No you are not an addict. You have a legitimate need and based on the fact you have not increased your dosage over a period of six years, you demonstrate no tolerance, which means it is still working for you. This is, in fact, not uncommon. Not everyone develops tolerance to these drugs when they are used properly. I don't know what your doctor's problem is, he may be scared of something, I don't know the rules and laws where he is nor how they are enforced. Or he may be ignorant about the correct use of small amounts of these drugs which does not constitute abuse. If it works, I would carry on getting it wherever you can. Good luck.

You and your doctor need to talk together about why she thinks you're addicted. I have a feeling she doesn't understand what she means when she says this. Addiction to something usually means that you crave more and more of whatever it is. Anyway, talk with your doctor again. Just because a doctor says something, that doesn't mean you just have to sit there and take it as though it's gospel truth. Also, talk with her about other ways which might help you deal with your life situation. Your doctor cannot force you into rehab. She cannot threaten to withhold care if you don't go into rehab. You, on the other hand, have the right to change your doctor if you're not happy with the care you're currently receiving.

In the equal context. It's theoretically a useful answer, transfer and you'll under no circumstances do the drug once more. We see the D1 receptor web sites recede in a singular context. What that implies is you're not addicted while you reside someplace else. But while you get the cues like a pal you continually did medicines with or the Bar, or it is 7:30, time to fulfill Jimmy and so on, your mind places out the receptors that make you crave the drug. No cues, no dependancy. If you progress you're off the drug perpetually (rather talking). Sometimes pressure or the drug itself is the cue, wherein case it is a little more difficult to escape from. dextromethorphan may be proven to wreck tolerance. There was once one night time in Baltimore whilst over 18 men and women got here in for heroin overdoes. Turns out it was once reduce with cough tablets which had dextromethorphan. So whilst men and women who had been used to filling all their (let's imagine) 20 receptors with two grams of heroin, simplest had 6 receptors and took two grams, so that they had no tolerance and overdosed. This result in Morph-Dex, a for of morphine for expertise opiate addicts to restrict dependancy.

I feel ya, my boyfriend had some and there was a time when I was having trouble sleeping so I would cut 1/4 th of a Xanax and I would crash out so quickly and wake up refreshed. I stopped though because it wasnt prescribed to me and I didnt want to become dependent of it like my boyfriend did. Tell your doctor to prescribe something else they announce a whole bunch of them in TV commercials that are non dependent. Good Luck!

I take 3 tylenol pm pills nightly, for many of the reasons you describe and I don't get a hangover feeling as you said. They sell it at stores and you don't need a prescription.

I guess it is how you describe abuse. I personally don't think so because for years I have to take sleeping pills. I use ambien right now, but I have used others. If it "helps" you fall asleep why not.

It's time to stop that nonsense. Try a glass of wine for awhile to get you over the hump. Then look on the net for some natural remedies to help you wind down at night, such as warm milk, hot bath, etc.
