When you're tired, you body tries to get the energy it needs however it can, and one way is through craving high-carbohydrate foods. Sleeping is the best way to control that.

Unless you sleep all day like I do, then you wouldn't be tired at night...Maybe it's something more psychological.

Well, you might not be eating enough during the day, so at night your body begins to "scream to you" for more calories. More likely, however, is that you are confusing your desire for sleep or sexual gratification for hunger. It sounds silly, but it is very common. Two reasons for feeling tired are lack of sleep and lack of calories - fuel for your body to function. Sometimes it is difficult to tell which one you need. If you're feeling hungry but you know you've had enough, try sleeping. As for sex, fulfullment is a feeling you can get from food or sex (among other things). Again, you can easily confuse these desires. Also, many people are emotional eaters... you might feel lonely at night without someone to end the day and sleep with - eating can mask these feelings of loneliness. Finally, stress could be causing your night-time binges as well. Try relaxing in other ways like watching tv, reading a book, playing and instrument, or emailing your friends. If you keep yourself busy, you may find that you don't feel as hungry.

There is nothing wrong with you... many (if not most) women in particular struggle with the same situation. Make a commitment to yourself that you will not eat ANYTHING after a certain hour (anywhere from 6-10). But pick a time that is before you get your cravings and make it a rule that after that time, no matter what, you will not eat one more bite! This is effective because it is habit forming - soon you will not have to think about it. You will get used to night time without overeating!

Good luck!

LOTS of people do this. Best way to stop is self-control or limiting what you snack on. Like carrots, or celery or some sort of fruit that fills you up>
