Well if it's a crush and nothing more then I don't see the need in having to make excuses to be with someone. You're not dating the person, it's just a crush.

My thoughts...
While it might be possible that the guy just isn't interested, I'd doubt anyone who is reclusive would not make any effort if he really liked someone.
More than likely he could either be shy (yes, guys can be shy too), or he fears rejection.
Too often people (guys and gals both) fear rejection so much, they'd rather dream and hope of being with someone (the crush) than to risk losing that dream by trying to see if the other person feels the same way about them, and the rejection involved scares them.

Now I am answering from a guys point of view. I have a crush on this girl and I will often make excuses just to be with her. However I will sometimes not do this if my other friends are with me because it can be embarrasing. Try spending some time alone with him. He might or he might not. Have fun, it's all part of being a teenager and it's all part of life. Enjoy

Except for someone like the late billionaire Howard Hughes reclusivity is relatively rare

Crushes are really on the lowest rung of relationships. They become fun when two people begin to flirt with one another and oh my God, they might even like each other. If I knew a girl had a crush on me I would 1) not beat around the bush and ask her out or 2) ask what's for dessert.

I have an old saying" and it tends to be true".. If someone really likes you, you best to beleive they will let you know. If you get no answer, then you know you basically know where you stand in there book. It doesnt help constantly thinking if someone likes you or is interested in you. Usually they find away. If they dont find a way to you, then you know it is a no. When soomeone really wants something, theres that old saying in the book, they work hard to get it.

It just means he's a man... Start acting as if your losing interest and see if he then tries to make up for it an pursue you for a change, he just might if he does like you... Or you could also just suck it up and ask him if he is interested, the worst answer you will get is No and well it saves a lot of time and heartache.

You're focusing on just one particular behavior. Try to observe their body language in general. For example,
If he sneezes in your direction, then he doesn't like you since he wants you to get sick.
If he tries to run you over with his car, then he doesn't like you since he's trying to kill you.
If he answers a question in class, then straps on a jetpack and flies through the classroom roof, then he does like you and can't take one more moment of being around you so he has to leave.

maybe there are guys that are very shy and if if u make him feel comfortable maybe he'll open up have enough confidence to ask u out. if he still seem kind of distant to u then yea that is a sign hes not in to you.
