If a man in the UK is married, but his wife has been absent for 7 years or more and nothing has been seen or heard of her during that time, and all attempts to find her have failed, then my understanding is that he can marry again. In normal circumstances, however, if a man does take a second wife whilst the first is still alive, then he's breaking the law and is known as a bigamist.

Depends on where you live and whether both wives are alive! Haha, most places won't recognise both marriages as a legal marriage, but the Christian religion doesn't specify that marriage must be monogamous and not polygamous and so, according to the rules of your religion, yes. You can marry as many people as you like.

EDIT: It's not just the mormons who believe this. It's just the mormons who practice this. The Christian bible does not specify that marriage is a one woman/one man thing. In fact, many if not all married men in the bible had multiple wives. It also does not specify that a wedding is needed to be married or that marriage must be a legally binding institution.

Unfortunately to remarry to have to be first divorce , if you do not divorce and get married ( you do need paper work in most places for proof that you are no longer married) it is against the law , itscalled bigamy and you can end up with a criminal record and worse prison.
Sorry

You said Christian, so I'm assuming you mean person of faith... Biblicaly speaking, the answer is NO... marriage is one man and one woman... only... (New Testament, not old).... If one were Widowed (their husband/wife died) then its allowed... but divorce isn't an option for a true christian either (with one or two notable exceptions... a christian/non-christian marriage where the NON CHRISTIAN chooses to leave... OR adultery, they cheated on you...) otherwise, its not allowed for a christian to divorce...
now the legal side... no where, not even Utah anymore, allows it in the US... (i don't know laws outside the US, sorry)...

No. It is against the law in all Christian countries firstly. It is a legal requirment to show that you are divorced from any previous marriages/ had them dissolved.
and secondly it is against the Christian religion i believe (yes I know there were multi unions in the bible).

aside from the fact that its illegal in all states but Utah in the US, its also not acceptable by God, divorce or marrying two women at once. the only religion that accepts that are the mormans.

No it's called bigamy and it's against the law! It doesn't matter what your religion is.
