One who claims to be christian, but really sins all day. Does it as a social thing. Does it because it's cool to be a Jesus freak, a disciple of God.

This is one reason why I do not attend church is because of the fake Christians. They are suppose to be the most holly people in the world but at the drop of a hat they will judge you and back stab you. As I have told them before the only one that will judge me is God. I live my life the way I think it should be and in Gods eyes, not by the way the fake Christians tell me it should be lived. They are everywhere just look around, at one glance you will spot a hand full plus more.

Yes there are. It is unfortunate. The reasons a person would do such a thing simply amazes me.
To count them would take a long time and a lot of patience would be involved.
The way you can "spot" these "fakes" just look at the fruit of their work. Are their motives pure and honest? Do they help to help a friend or to look good and have a good image? The key is to pray and ask God for the eyes to see truth from false.

Jesus said you would know a tree by the fruit it bares. Likewise, christians are the same way. For a better scriptural reference look at Matthew 13 where Jesus talks about the wheat and the tares. The tare when it's young has a appearance which is similar to the real wheat. But you can not tell it apart from the real wheat until it matures. The Jewish word which described tares is "bastard". That's not a joke. It's true. It's where the word bastard originated from, that which is illigetimate.

Yes, there definitely are fake Christians, and sadly, there are many of them. It is why I have found it difficult to find a church that I like to attend. At one of my old churches, there were a group of girls that I hung out with at church and teen activities and such all the time. They were shining examples of what Christians should be. At the time I was still striving and learning my walk, and I took inspiration from their example.

At one point though I was invited to a sleepover with the whole group and one girl's house and I was flabbergasted by what I saw. It was like they were entirely different people. They were talking about doing cocaine and how many boys they'd been with, and girls, and I couldn't believe it. I was so disgusted by them. When they were in church they were perfect, pure, Christian girls, but as soon as they were behind closed doors, they were outright doing things they knew were wrong. I was offered a joint by one of them!

It wasn't too long after that I left the church and went to a different one. Unfortunately, you will find hypocrites like these in every church in every town. They think as long as they go to church, pay their tithes, tell God they're sorry for what they did all week, then they're good. They don't get the true meaning of Christianity. It's sad really. Fake christians like these are hard to spot. On the outside, in church they look and act just like they are supposed to. But when you get them outside of it, they are no different then regular scum. I would say just keep your eyes open, and listen to them. Eventually they will give it away by something they do or say.

The fake christian are mostly known as hypocrites and false preachers. Your correct, they do exist! The best way to seep them out is by watching how they behave, but it is hard to determine how many there are in this world. I am sure there's a lot!

For example:

I just read a remark from q@a on how a person who hates blacks people. He is apparently an asian guy, and many responded by expressing their displeasing of his attitude. This is clearly not a (good) christian. No matter what a person(s) may do to you, if you know Christ's word, never hate your enemy(ies).

God Bless

I don't think that a Christian is fake because he/she sins, it's human nature to sin, and you can try to become the likeness of Jesus (perfect), buy you will never reach it. A fake Christian to me is a person who uses Christ's name for self profit (like a lot of religious leaders), or boasts the name of Christ to gain attention or validation (like you said it's cool to be a Jesus freak, but for acceptance, not because of faith). More than any other "worldly" these are the greatests sins against God, the biggest blasphemy.

It's sad to say that I see these "fake Christians" way more than I see Christians of true faith.

The Parable of the Weeds [Matthew 13:24-29, NIV]

Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
"The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'

" 'An enemy did this,' he replied.
"The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'

'No,' he answered, 'because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.' " [NIV]

I believe there are various types of non-believers amoungst believers and they are there for various different reasons. Some are on their journey to salvation, some have religious spirits, some attend church out of a sense of duty, some are there to do the work of Satan. As Christians I believe we should be quick to root out evil from our midst and inviting to the rest.

Loads.

In the UK, there is such snobbery around the school children are sent to. Some church run schools are believed to be better so the parents go to the church, claim they are Christians just to get their child in the school.

Total fake

It is also vogue to be a christian

Yes indeed there are, the Bible talks about people like this in Matthew when it talks about tares among wheat.

The word tares is referring to a species of darnel bearing poisonous seeds, which closely resembles wheat yet is totally different.

Again in Matthew 7:22,23 we read:

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ "And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you...

In Matthew 7:20 it says by their fruits shall you know them.

That's how they are spotted, a good tree will bear good fruit, a bad tree bad fruit and so on, you will know them by their actions etc.

On the other hand there are those who are Christians yet are not living as they should.

There are fake purses? I didn't know that. All purses look alike to me. (Of course, I don't carry a purse.)

Fake Christians are easy to spot. They are the ones spreading hate and cruelty. That is not what Jesus taught.

Where is it cool to be a Jesus Freak?
