Here are the minimum requirements:

Age: 20 - 35 years

Vision: For eyeglasses or hard contact lens wearers - 20/40, correctable to 20/20 (successful soft contact lens wearers over the past 12 months are not required to meet an uncorrected standard if corrected vision is 20/20); normal color vision

Education: High School graduate or GED

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen, or be a permanent resident
alien who has applied for citizenship at least one year prior to applying to the CHP. Must be a citizen upon graduation from the Academy.

Background: No felony convictions.

However, having a whole lot of tickets - whether you won or not - will show a lack of maturity or common sense. Judgment is a big part of the job, and speeding, running lights, etc. are all poor judgments.

But, if you can't correct your vision to 20/20 it is moot anyway.
