If you smoked around the mom while she was pregnant you could have caused some problems. Do NOT smoke around the baby. And for your own health, stop smoking - you want to see your son get married some day right?

YES! There are chemicals in those cigarettes you smoke and smoking around a pregnant woman means that both she AND the baby are at risk for all kinds of health problems. Cigarette smoke stays all over the place, wherever it lands, the chemicals stay there until it is washed off. Literally. Maybe the baby inherited the asthma, but your smoking probably tripled or quadrupled the risk. Not to mention tons of other factors that could have made the difference... the main thing here is: don't smoke around the baby. Or better yet, quit smoking altogether. The baby is not out of danger until his weight is brought up to normal and his lungs full develop. You should also look at the issue of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). The facts are leaning towards cigarette smoke. Just quit!

Smoking is bad around a new baby and a pregnant mother. Even if you don't smoke around them, the nicotine is still on your skin and clothes and nicotine is NOT good for a new baby. For your son's health, stop smoking now.

I smoked with my first child, and she was barely 5 pounds and had asthma.
Today, she is regular height and her asthma has cleared because I stopped smoking around her and didn't allow anyone to smoke around her.
