I have a 2005 ram1500 hemi with 42,000 miles, the check engine light came on ,i stopped by auto zone and the guy checked the codes , the scanner said i had a bad EGR valve. the truck is running poorly it hesitate's when you pull out,surges back and forth while im driving and tries to quit when you let off the gas. need to know where the egr is located on the engine, what it looks like, and is it a part that can be cleaned or rebuilt or just replaced with a new one. thanks for any help.

Sometimes it is just stuck or sticking with carbon. You may be able to clean it chemically but do not try to clean it physically as they are easily damaged. They normally get gummed up with carbon. You can try a good spray carburetor cleaner. Here is a link that shows its location right behind the alternator. It is attached to the front of the right cylinder head. 2 bolts/screws and a plug to take loose and its off.

what a ****** place to put it on the 4.7 ...why couldnt they keep it the same as the 5.7 ......**** ME..
