To be left completely alone, honestly. No phone calls, emails, texting, sending messages by others, none of that.
Wave or speak if you see her in public, but don't approach. More than likely she is making a decision about where your relationship will go from here.
If you don't heed the "need space" request, you can be sure you've put one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. It will annoy the mess out of her.

Well they just need some time alone to think about alot of things on there own time. If a girl tells you that she "needs some space". let her contact you again on her own time.
Let her know however that if she needs to talk about something that you'll be willing to listen. And Pay Attention.

you know, girls really arrent that complicated as they seem. Not me anyway, when i say something I mean it. So when a girl needs some space, she really does need some space! She just needs some time for herself or maybe she even needs some time for her friends without you.

Just leave her alone and pretend she is overseas and you have no way of contacting her. The more space you give her the better results you will get. So just chill out and enjoy your life w/o her in the meantime.

bad news- that usually is a line they use on "nice guys" when the "chemistry" fails - which is nearly always does, and once tagged a nice guy by a chick it generally cannot be undone
Controlling, deceptive, and cheating bad boys - are big chemistry generators for ladies - and if you happen NOT to be lowlife - just pretend to be a cheater, give them a bit of disrespect here and there that they crave, and the chicks will appreciate it

That's her way of telling you that you call her too much. That's the worse thing you can do in a relationship. She needs time to miss you. Even if she doesn't hear from you for two days. It takes THAT short a period of time for us to miss you.

I always took it to mean they want to talk it over with every one of her friends, create a plan, and then try to find a way out.
If I hear that now, I just tell them that there is nothing to figure out. If she wants to stick with me, I will never have to hear it. If she wants to go, she has my blessing.
