I don't answer for all Gnostics but can only say that Jesus is my savior as it was through his true teachings that I came to find the path towards universal compassion, greater understanding and deeper knowledge.

Yes. The Gnostics believe that Jesus was a guide, teacher, or master sent by the true God to bring us to Gnosis and help end our enslavement to Yaldaboath (Yahweh). Christ acts as an intermediary between this realm and the Father. That is why he stated that no one comes to the Father but by him. Yahweh has always been accessible to his people directly, without need of an intermediary. In Gnosticism, Jesus acts as the intermediary because the true Father, who is pure light, cannot have direct contact with this realm, which is dark defiled matter.

No. They believe salvation is through knowledge. In particular a secret knowledge that leads one to a more spiritual existence. They presented Jesus as a spiritual being who had attained this knowledge. He is not their savior but an example of what they were trying to attain. That is why their writings were excluded from the current Bible. They were not spreading Jesus teaching, but using Jesus to spread their own teaching.
