I am a bottle digger for years. Go to your library and there are books on old antique bottles. You will find books on the markings of the companies that made the bottle. This should be a great help to you. Digging old ash dumps are very promising for old bottles. Every farm out in the country there own dump. Also the town dumps they also had. I'll tell you when you start digging old bottles it gets in your blood and try to stop. You never know what you will find. Common things like gold coins depression glass especially old expensive bottles that some of them are worth a fortune. Especially the different colored ones and fruit jars in the different colors like amber off green and straw yellow you are talking bucks. Take it from where it comes because I know. Does this writing get you a little interested in digging bottles? It sure does me.

Probably not much excitement, but you can take it to an antique shop. They will usually have a better idea by seeing the bottle, rather than trying to guess what it look like.
