In the Bible in Genesis spoke of the Spirit hovering over the waters, I believe it is the second chapter of Genesis. Now if you are speaking of Jesus telling the disciples having a helper in his absence, it was not till about forty days after he actually ascended in to heaven after being amongst the disciples forty days after he was killed, buried and risen on the third day.

Genesis, John, Matthew, and Acts.

In the New Testament, Jesus said to his followers after he rose from the dead and before the ascension that he was sending a 'paraclete' to enter them and be with them until he returns. the word paraclete is greek meaning spirit.
