Marines are usually about 8 month tours. The Army is typically 12 months. The Army National Guard and Reserves are now in a 12 month mobilization cycle. That will typically put us on the ground for about 8 months.

It depends on the mission, but I know that Army is usually one year and an additional 3-4 mon ths on the front end for training. Marines are going for at least 9 months - I think.

With the army, it's between a year and 18 months in Iraq.

Extensions are inevitable (which can push it out to 18 months).

I can't speak for the Marines.

For the army, its supposed to me no more than a year, but some units (mine) can be extended for up to 16 months, after that it would take an act of congress to keep you there any longer. Here is a bit of advice if you are combat arms and in the Army, dont be a high speed unit in iraq, they will want to keep you there as long as they can, so you can cover down on the crappy units(4th ID! lol jk). Hope this helped some
