An extreme burning sensation just below my breastbone (the first few attacks i actually confused the feeling with chest pain, as it's high up and radiates right from front to back). It feels like someone's kicked you in the chest. I had an endoscopy and was diagnosed as having 7 ulcers, doedenal (in the upper part of the stomach) and others.

These days 96% of ulcers are caused by a bacteria called h.pylori and can be treated by strong antibiotics, then there are cases like mine where both genetics and stress do play a major role. This minority can only be treated with anti-acid medication and a strict diet, allowing the ulcers enough time to heal themselves. (stress does not cause ulcers - it only irritates them and can worsen the problem).

My attacks are triggered by fatty meals, any food with capsis oil (chilli, peppers etc), fruit, carbonated drinks, meat (as it's hard to digest) and alcohol.

Yes, have had stomach ulcers -
symtoms: Burning and extreme pressure and a gnawing feeling at juction of breastbone - extreme pain all the way through to back and upper shoulder, some nausea, fainting, chills and sweating. Basically the worst pain you can imagine.

Yes, stress can help an ulcer develop, stress produces acid, too much acid can produce an ulcer.

If you are going through this, then you have my sympathy. It hurts!
