I want to move to LA, I have great Job credentials, a degree, and friends there. I don't plan on buying a house or anything, just renting out w/ roomates. Anyone have pros and cons about the area?? As well as suggestions as to where to look into living..?? What part of LA is best...ect??

The housing prices, including rentals, are very high in comparison to the rest of the country. If you already have roomates in mind, start with that area to look into where to work. This is important because the traffic situation is out of hand; you don't want to spend hours every day just commuting. Living 5-15 miles from your work will make life much easier. The West side (around Palms, Westwood) or San Gabriel Valley (near Pasadena) are a couple of the nicer areas, but pricey. Less expensive are Long Beach or Hollywood or the SouthEast area (Downey, Whittier). Start memorizing the freeway system!

glendale or pasadena are nice. not far from downtown LA for all the night life (pasadena has quite a nightlife). good local spots. and if you dont like things too quiet, then i think you will like it. if you like the beach, i recommend manhattan beach(pretty expensive) with nice beach houses..nice place with so much local shopping and eateries and specialties, and by LAX, as well, not that far from LA, either, ull prolly find the more ritzy life at manhattan

If you have friends here ask them for suggestions. They know your likes and dislikes better than strangers do. Just be aware that it is quite expensive where ever you choose.
