We had a very messy break-up. I actually had the police escort him off of my property the last time he was at my house because he would'nt leave and was threatening to kill himself. He hasn't been here since, but he still calls at least twice a week. I don't think he's stable and today my daughter answered the phone. Its getting rather frightening.

Wow! That is scary! If you haven't already, be VERY specific and tell him NOT to call you--If he persists and/or the behaviour worsens, call your local Police Dept. or Sheriff's Office, or even the Courthouse, explain your situation and find out about obtaining a "Stalking/Harassment Order" Make sure you thoroughly document EVERYTHING when he calls; you will need all the info and any witness information to put in the Order...Ask for resources/information from your local Domestic Violence shelter or advocates program. If necessary, ask about an emergency order for protection...You have to protect yourself and your daughter first. It is up to your Ex whether he is willing to obtain the necessary help for himself...He is your ex, and is not your responsibility. It might also be a good idea to carry a small camera with you; if he is also stalking you, take a photo and include it with any/all documentation as proof--If he happens to be in his vehicle, be sure to get the license plate info.. I don't know how old your daughter is, but perhaps it would be good to make sure she is never home/out alone, at least, until an Order of some sort can be put into place, and make sure you, yourself, can be escorted to/from work to your vehicle, if necessary--Inconvenient at times, yes--However, better to be safe than sorry--FYI: Stalking/Harassment Orders are more stringent than TROs and TPOs--It may not stop him from harassing you, but if he violates it, he will be arrested and he will get the message sooner or later--Also, be sure to talk with your daughter and keep an open channel of communication between you--She might need/want to chat with a counsellor, too. Good Luck & Take Care!

Report him again. Tell the authorities what you just posted here; that he is unstable and he may harm himself. Also make a harassment complaint to the phone company so that they can monitor your calls. Since he already has a record the police are aware of his actions. He just may very well be unstable enough to need further mental hygiene evaluation. You can also proceed to the next step which us to swear out a restraining order or get an order of protection. So if he doesn't stop calling you and your daughter, then by all means tell the police he is still bothering you and have them take the necessary action.

i think you should get a restraining order on him. especially for your daughter's (and your!) well being.
i believe you can get an order for phone calls..if not, then a physical restraining order. you fill out a basic form at the courthouse.
then change your phone number. only give your number to people you trust, close family.
