Is it offensive to an Asian girl if I tell her she has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen?

She is an international exchange student from a Chinese university.

Obviously, I want to tell her this, because she really does have beautifully shaped eyes, but I am afraid it might offend.

If answering, please let me know if you are Asian or Asian-American, and whether you are male or female. Thank you.

I don't think it is offensive because everybody has his/her own version of beauty, hence "beauty in the eye of the beholder". For example, my husband likes Asian women (that's one of the reasons he's attracted to me) and he likes the exotic-looking eyes that are almond-shaped instead of the typical big brown eyes or big blue eyes. I, on the other hand, think that big brown eyes are gorgeous and I'm always surprised by what he considers attractive.

Another example is how he thinks that I'm average-sized while I think I'm too skinny & have been told so all my life. I was surprised when he first told me that and you might get a surprised reaction, too, but if you really mean it, she will believe it too and she might be pleasantly surprised. Good luck with your "yellow fever"!

Yes if you are not her friend or colleague for quite sometime. To say so is considered flirting and/or offending and not appropriated for guy to treat his just-to-know oriental friend.

It might not be offended if you know her well and she's already adopted western culture. Everywhere has been invaded and influenced by Hollywood movies.

I'm Thai male (3rd generation chinese, borned in Thailand)

I'd be sort of suspicious lol but I won't be offended. I mean, this italian guy said I had nice beautiful hair. But it was extremely dry and frizzy! No need for a debate. I had horrible hair. No one complimented on it except for him. Say it if you mean it.

I will feel flattered and say thank you. Some might feel shy and at a loss for words, but I don't think they will take any offence. Go ahead and tell her.
