Well, in 2000 the Body Shop in Canada honored Elizabeth Bagshaw, who ran an illegal abortion clinic in Canada. The Body Shop founder Anita Roddick said in a January 2004 interview: "For example, the great Catholic activist Dan Berrigan has been an outspoken opponent of abortion. I myself support the freedom of choice, but I respect that Dan is acting on a morally consistent belief that all life is sacred." Body Shop is also listed as a corporate sponsor for a Planned Parenthood event at Tulane University in 2002. Anita Roddick was also among a group of panelists that nominated the Planned Parenthood Website teenwire.com for a Webby award in 2006.

However, "Body Shop founder Anita Roddick has criticised pop stars such as Britney Spears and Beyoncé for glorifying a “pimp and whore” culture through their sexually suggestive performances and lyrics." It seems like Anita Roddick is all for giving women dignity and respect. Unfortunately she also supports letting the abortion industry violate them and kill their unborn for a huge profite under the guise of "reproductive choice."

Good luck finding an alternative (Bed, Bath and Beyond? Avon? Mary-Kay?). Also write a letter to Body Shop letting them know why you are no longer a customer and what they have to do to earn your business back. If they get enough letters and see red on their quarterly report they'll have a change of mind.

Why, are their proceeds going to killing babies?

I did a google search and there is a page claiming that "Body Shop Founder Honours abortionists".

HOWEVER the headline is sensationalist, taken out of context and is part of a pro-life site. Not very neutral at all. Basically Body Shop lauched a program to highlight Canadian "Women We Admire".
2 out of 19 of the women happened to, as part of their position in women's health care, operate abortion clinics.

If you are going to boycott a store you like very much because 2 out of 19 of people they admire, among other things, also perform abortions for women, that's rather sad. I suppose you think you're taking a stand. If I were you I would boycott the store only if proceeds form sales were going to abortion clinics. It's rather silly to boycott something just because their founder has a different opinion.
But hey, that's just me.

Even if Body Shop does support abortion, you shouldn't buy their products. The stuff is full of artificial crap, colors, fragrances. Your skin just soaks that right up. Plus, most of the stuff smells way too strong and fake anyway. Besides, this whole thing sounds like the makings of an urban legend to me.

summer, nobody supports abortion. Some people support women having a choice. If you want to know what the body shop support then why dont you write a letter and ask them. Abortion is one of the choices women have when they choose to risk having unprotected sex.

Good for you for asking the question! I found this by doing the same.

And boycotting a company because they donate to or support in any way a completely unethical practice is to be commended.
