Because they desire to move away from God, God sitting in the heart of the people fulfills that desire so that they may deny God. God says that from him comes remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness.
Lord Sri Krishna says in the Bhagavad gita(19.61),
The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy.
Comparing the soul and supersoul sitting on the tree of body,
both the Katha Upanisad and Svetasvatara Upanisad say,
"Although the two birds are in the same tree, the eating bird is fully engrossed with anxiety and moroseness as the enjoyer of the fruits of the tree. But if in some way or other he turns his face to his friend who is the Lord and knows His glories—at once the suffering bird becomes free from all anxieties."
So, the Lord is telling from within the heart what is good and what is bad. This is conscience coming from the Lord. The soul can choose the good or bad since it is endowed with the free-will.
The supersoul is only acting as the witnesser and sanctioner.as mentioned in the Bhagavad gita(13.23),
"Yet in this body there is another, a transcendental enjoyer, who is the Lord, the supreme proprietor, who exists as the overseer and permitter, and who is known as the Supersoul."
Based on Bhagavad-gita-as-it-is, by A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness)

Is there one origin to all existence?
What is the nature of that origin?
Is that origin something or nothing?
How could the origin be nothing?
How could the supreme origin be something?
How could the Supreme Origin be a Supreme Being?
We cannot say the Supreme Origin is nothing and how can we say there is anything there in the Supreme Origin since ordinary logic suggests that something/anything has to have originated from something.
So we choose between the Supreme Origin being some kind of nothingness or impersonal energy, or we choose the Supreme Origin is the Supreme Being.
What are the benefits of believing the Supreme Origin of all things is a Supreme Being?
Believing the Supreme Origin is a Supreme Being gives us someone we can relate to.
Assuming the Supreme Origin has an identity as the Supreme Being then the ultimate truth behind the existence of anything and everything and everyone has personal identity in relationship with this one Supreme Identity, the Supreme Being.
We are in some kind of material existence that is temporal in nature. Our existence here is temporal. So in a way our existence here in this material existence isn't real. Our being here must be a love issue.
Somehow there is the potential in an individual soul to think they are on an equal level with the Supreme Being. In this material existence we can pretend that we are the Supreme Being at least temporarily. But, since we are not really being our eternal self, we are continually subject to failure. Consequently we suffer birth, rebirth, and degenerative effects such as disease and old age.
We try to love and be loved, but we have great difficulty seeing through the external temporal nature of other beings to experience true love. We have forgotten how to love on the eternal platform due to our having been lost in this material existence since time immemorial. As human beings we have the intelligence to possibly figure out how to reawaken our true eternal loving propensities.
Not having reawakened our true eternal loving propensities we argue against the existence of eternality and the existence of the Supreme Being. Not reawakening our eternal loving propensities has us less capable of loving. In other words we become less caring about ourselves, those close to us, other people, as well as other creatures.
It is those who are not successful in understanding the eternal self - who remain critical of God and attempts to understand God. They may claim their atheism is good for material progress, but what is the use of material progress if it is soul-less? What is the use of material progress if it is lacking in the love needed in all relationships? How can there be happiness without love?

Many reasons, but satan is behind them all with his cunning deceptions that they are not even aware of . They do not know God. They do not want to let go and let God. Or to humble themselves to depend on God/Jesus for their salvation. Some are full of pride and want to live their lives on their own without anyone helping or intervening (like God). Some see hypocrites that claim to be christians and make this their reason. Do not look to other people around you for your reasons for denial, because there are christians who only wear the christian label and talk the talk without walking the walk. The Lord will judge them. Only look up to The Lord and to His Word. Vertical, not horizontal.

They don't get "offended" they get embarrassed, because they know the existence of god can not be rationalized. If religious people would keep their belief internal than it would not be a problem but they want everyone else to belief as they do so they try to convince others. Its time for humanity to grow-up, which means to put aside the believe of a god outside of their own experience.

A lot of people deny God because they are blinded, their hearts are hardened.
Satan Is the father of lies.
Satan has them believing a lie.
If you notice with Isaiah, when God asked," Whom shall we send, Who will go for us?"
Isaiah answered, "Here am I, send me.
God was calling to anyone who heard, Isaiah was the only one who could hear God's calling.
One day when it's God's will, They will be able the hear God's calling.
We just have to keep praying for them.

main reason they deny God is because they think God is a mean kid with a magnifying glass waiting to singe you for something. They also think that not believing in God will somehow give them more freedom. People are also into an agenda so they can't belive in God or they won't be able to complete their agenda!!!!!!!!!!

I personally believe that people are called by God, not the other way around. When your time comes to be called (and I think he will call everyone), you have a choice to make. Some of us choose to believe...others for some reason do not. Perhaps it has something to do with a person's inability to really look into their own heart.

People shouldn't get offended by God. I understand, however, why many people do not believe in God especially during this time period. It is difficult for people to believe in something that they can't see. Also, religion has shown to cause a lot of trouble in the world lately with all of this wanting to blow up Israel, for example. If you are really interested in finding the answer to this question, read the book PARABLE OF THE SOWER by Octavia E. Butler. I highly suggest it. My belief is that religion was created by the human so that they could find comfort during times of hardships and over the centuries many religions have become over mystified. Does god exist? I do not know.
