I'm attempting to get fit but i'm falling prey to temptation

with food i'm okay, i only 'pig out' maybe once a fortnight

but with exercise, i get home from work and i usually just do some housework then sit on the lounge or go to bed

it's crazy because i'm as motivated as all hell in nearly every other aspect of my life except controlling my fitness and health, i don't know why that's any different

do you have any pointers to stay motivated?

"I can resist everything except temptation" :P

but, I hear you, Im trying so hard to get fit, and eat right... its not that I think Im fat or anything, or need to lose weight (honestly, Im sick of people assuming that I think Im fat when I say I need to stop eating fast food)

but its hard, cuz I live a block away from about five fast food resturaunts. and its so easy to fall prey to their fast availability, and cheap prices. and than, after a long day at work, or school, or even just play, you get home, and the last thing you want to do is work off the pounds from all the fast/junk food you've eaten.

but, what you need to do, is what I do. I dunno if it'll help you, but just think of something that you really want to look good for. like with me, Im getting married in Sept. and I want to look great. I would hate to go on my honeymoon as out of shape, and unhealthy as I am now. it's easy to say "I want to look great two months from now" and than kind of let the motivation fade. like, people playing instruments, they know if they keep up with it for a few months, they could be great, but without a specific goal like "next month I want to play this song for my girlfriend" it's hard to stay motivated....

I don't know if you need any help with a fitness plan or anything, but here's a good site I found online.

http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Exercise.jsp

-so... get a fitness plan (which the site can offer) print it out, and keep it on your fridge, or bedroom door, so its always there staring at you.

-set SPECIFIC goals.. dont just say "I want to lose weight" make it a goal to say "I want to lose five pounds before next month" or something.

Make an exercise chart that's big enough to post on the door of your refrigerator. Make boxes like a calendar, but only list the days of the week (no month heading). At the top, write in big letters "MY WORKOUT PROGRESS CHART". Put a picture of yourself right under that. A picture that you HATE because it shows how out of shape you are. In Sunday's box write lines to note waist, hip, thigh, and upper arm measurements, as well as your weight. Put marks down for everyday of the week that you workout. It'll be looking pretty 'unmarked' at first, and remind you of how much slacking you do. Promise yourself that you won't take it down when people come over. Believe it or not, after a while, it'll start getting to you.

This may sound strange but eat an orange or tangerine to pick up your energy level. A low energy level will kill your motivation.

Bring a bag with gym clothes (and an orange) to work and leave it in your car. When you leave work, eat the orange and go to the gym before you go home.

Treat motivation like a decision which it is.

well.. it happens most of the times..
coz its easy to think that postponing excercise for a day will cause us no harm..
well to start with u can always think ahead n dream of how sexy n slim u would be if u exercise today.
how ppl will give u ravishing comments on u
n most of all.. u will love u all d very more..
try incorporating household chores n workouts...
happy exercising

You can't make the decision and say you are going to stick to it. You have to remake that decision every day, it's not a final thing. You just have to do, not decide. Just do.

...by embracing temptation we diminish it's power...the problem appears to be "rest", but it sounds like you could use alot of it...

...sometimes by charging up our body battery with rest we are, then, able to burn calories with greater success (increasing our metabolic rate)...

...a positive attitude increases our metabolic rate vs. depression which decreases our metabolic rate...

you are almost there...a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step>>>you have already taken several...
