There is a blood test to make the diagnosis of Masticatory Myositis. Did your vet perform that blood test? Make sure because it can be confused with other treatable things like:

* Something stuck in the soft tissues of the mouth
* Tetanus infection
* An abscess behind the eye
* Dislocation of the jaw
* Muscle Inflammation
* etc

I'll pray for your dog. Good luck

There is a 2M antibody test available that will confirm this diagnosis. Have you tried high dose therapy of Prednisone or Aziathioprine? Those are the typical treatments, but they are usually long term therapy, not just a couple of days. Its my understanding that recovery from this is usually long, but most do recover. In the mean time, your vet may want to place a nasogastric tube (or other type of feeding tube) to help administer a liquid diet to keep up the calorie intake.
