I would say ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away would not be a good solution, but there are a lot of positive things people can do.

Drive less, go easy on the air conditioning, don't burn your trash. Don't litter. Don't dump your used motor oil in your back yard.

If we pay no attention to polluting industry practices and do not conserve electricity, the problem will not go away.
