Gremlin infestation?

Maybe you should bring in an electrician to check your house, could be a wiring or voltage problem somewhere.

Some TVs are very sensitive to power, whether it is a drop in power or a power surge. This is why most people at the electronics stores wont to sell you an in line conditioner. Which is basically, a surge protector with the ability to keep the power need to your TV, which is like a built in transformer. They work great and monster puts them out, at least some of the better ones. If the breakers are not tripping then there is nothing wrong with you electrical side. Get you a line conditioner.

A few possibilities:

1) They are all nearly as old as you.
2) They are mostly hand-downs.
3) The brand names are difficult to pronounce.
4) Just plain streak of bad luck.

Seriously though, hard to give you a straight answer without more details. Are you having problems with other electrical appliances? Power surges, lightning are common, but will also effect other electronic equipment as well. May be problem with household wiring. Avoid plugging into the same circuit as refrigerator washing machine or other heavy duty appliance which draws heavy current when starting, and causes large current spike when shutting off. Good luck.

I have to agree with SCOTT P.....and yes, I have customers that are in GROUP NUMBER 4.....poor bastards can't catch a break......

YOU MIGHT just have some BAD MOJO when it comes to electronic devices.....

But your MOJO might be caused by some COMMON SENSE problems you're creating too......

You like wearing POLY-NYLON? Try Cotton, it doesn't generate HIGH LEVELS of static electricity.....
NYLON carpet is Big Trouble....go for Poly which is a Lesser level of static generation.......

Loose AC plugs in the house? Your plugs should have some FIRM resistance when plugging in your devices.....you shouldn't just "lay it in the hole".....

Live in an older neighborhood....circa 1930 or earlier?
If you have old fuses, then its time to plan out a 200 AMP supply panel....the old ones were 80 amps or less....YOU NEED VOLTAGE AND CURRENT.....

Live out in the COUNTRY? Notorious place for lightning strikes.....BEST if you connect ALL ground rods, and grounding points to the ground on your electrical service panel, so "ground strikes" won't cause voltage differences between your services.....
A surge suppressor does just that....."SUPPRESSES" the voltage, but doesn't eliminate the surge....That's why a major manufacturer years ago suggested the "grounds all connected to one point"

I've never heard of a TV that can actually break into a home. Is it on wheels or something?
