my dog was being borded at a vet hospital while i was job & house relocating for about 4 weeks. and when i went to pick him up he had lost about 20lbs and they told me he had a uranary infection and kindey infection. and that he probaley got it prior to his arival. they said that the cause is from drinking dirty water or puddle water with fessies in it from birds or somthing. since i live in las vegas i know thats there been no puddle water around. and that he looks like crap, very poor shape. he was very healthy when i droped him off, now hes got marks, scares no tail hair ect...... all over his body. and having a hard time going to the bathroom 1&2. and they told me it could be fateal if not treated. and was wondering if they feed him the food there recalling and what to do. (same simptoms)
yours trully!

who knows what happened while you were gone. But i can tell you that the food that is being recalled isnt causing the symptoms you are describing. The food is causing liver failure, and the signs are change in water consumption, lethargic, vomiting, and no appetite. You should take your dog to a different vet for a 2nd opinion, and if he/she believes the dog was neglected, then take it to court!

I am sorry that you dog has had a hard time since you have been gone.
To me this sounds alot like a stress reaction than anything else. UTI (urinary tract infection), can be caused by a miriad of things one of which i would not have thought would have happened from dirty water and i think that is bull about that. Stress and food related symptoms are usually at the forefront of UTI infection.
Did you have a look at the boarding facilities? Was there enough room for your dog to be free to go to the toilet whenever he was there. Did it look like a stress free place?

I think that your dog should be put onto some bolied rice and bolied chicken for 1 week and then start to introduce the diet that i am sure he was fine on before you put him on boarding. Introduce it over a 10 day period to stop the dog from getting diahorrea.
Chicken and rice when given boiled is a really good food for the intestinal tract and will not upset the urinary tract.
Find out how bad his kidneys are and how much trauma they have suffered as a result from the infections. If they are ok then you will not have any problems with this diet for 7 days and then introducing the other food over 10 days after that.

It really does sound to me your dog has suffered alot of stress and hopefully after some tender loving care and being back home with you he will be back to his happy old self again.
I am a little annoyed at the vet hospital that they never notified you of his condition. I hope he has not picked up a contaganous disease form the boarding pen.

Good luck my email is avail should this not make any sense or you would like to amail me with his progress

Actually the foods in quesiton are causing acute KIDNEY failure, not liver failure, and it's not likely that your dog was fed canned food by this vet-canned food is much more expensive than dry, so most kennels feed dry food. And dogs get bladder infections most often from holding the urine too long, not from drinking puddle water. Were they in touch with you while the dog was being boarded? Did they make any attempts to contact you when the dog first started acting sick? Was anything said about your dog's condition prior to your arrival to pick him up, or are they just answering questions you put to them? DEFINITELY seek a second opinion on this one. And you do have a right to view your dog's medical record, though they don't have to give you a hard copy, walk in unannounced and ask to see the record, bring someone with you, and they will probably have an employee stay with you while you look at it to make sure you don't change things. The record is legally the property of the veterinarian, but as the owner of the dog, you have the legal right to physically view every page in that file with your own eyes.

Hopefully, with your relocation, you will no longer be vetting with this group of professionals. If everything you say is true and you were a responsible dog owner, then you might request to speak with the vet about why you weren't notified immediately about the fecal-related infection and kept up-to-date on the weight loss.

Get a second opinion immediately about the bathroom issues from another vet and inquire as to what the impact of the disease your dog was allegedly diagnosed with could have entailed.

Take the dog to another vet right away and find out what is really happening! Make sure that you bring the dog's recent vaccination records. You may have a lawsuit if you want to go there. Get diagnosis and treatment from one or two other vets and get your dog well!

I would be so mad right now if I were you If they were supposed to be taking care of your dog at a Vet office how is your dog sick? I would take him to a different Vet immediatly and they would get the bill Did you pay them? I would stand out in front of their office and tell everyone that is going inside what they did or allowed to happen. Call the news channels do whatever it takes to get your dog healthy and make them pay!

i would take your dog to another vet immediately and have it looked at.then if the vet tells you the same thing the first vet told ok.but if not than i would look in to legal action on the vet who took care of your dog while your away.as for the food recall you would have to ask what food they fed your dog while you where gone.hope this helped.
