I don't think you are going to grow any taller, sorry. Girls usually stop growing around 15, I know I did. 5'6 is not a pathetic height, you are above average! And there is no excersise that will make you grow taller. So don't waste your time. Maybe good posture. Be proud of your height, especially if you are the tallest in your family.

In all of my sports medicine studies we learn that load on bones will stimulate them to grow in order to handle the extra stress. Just be careful to keep your muscles strong to avoid injury that may keep you off your feet. Growing for girls usually stops around age 17. However, I grew almost an inch after that age. If I were 5'6 I could reach so much more stuff! Other people have asked the same q on Yahoo, maybe check out the answers they got. Good luck! Never give up.

Jump up and down for about 5 minutes on each leg, then on both legs, do jumping jacks, and bend your knees. All of this will take about 20 minutes, but you don't have to do all of them, you are only 16 and 5'6" is pretty good but, if you want to be taller just do those excerises. Hope I helped you!
You will see results in about a month, may seem long but it will help. Try doing the excerises for a month too.

A major growth spurt occurs at the time of puberty. Usually kids enter puberty between age 8 to 13 years in girls and 10 to 15 years in boys. Puberty lasts about 2 to 5 years. This growth spurt is associated with sexual development, which includes the appearance of pubic and underarm hair, the growth and development of sex organs, and in girls, the onset of menstruation.
By the time girls reach age 15 and boys reach age 16 or 17, the growth associated with puberty will have ended for most teens and they will have reached physical maturity.
