well i really hope that the puppy is on some sort of antibiotic prescribed by a vet.. because this could be the factor that pulls a puppy this age through a respiratory infection. To help relieve the puppy some you can sit in the bathroom with him, with the shower on HOT water so that the room fills with steam. This will help your pup to breathe better. Also wipe his nose and eyes with a warm wet wash cloth if there is discharge. Keep him warm, comfortable, and most importantly, hydrated! Even if you have to syringe water or pedialyte into his mouth, you must keep him hydrated. Good luck!

Well, it likely was your fault, but I have to admit that I would probably do the same thing if I saw a puppy running loose. I have, actually, and I have caught large dogs as well, but they have come to me when called or coaxed and I did not scruff them, but put a leash on them instead. As for everyone saying that this pup is abnormal, perhaps it is just going through a fear stage. I had a huge mixed breed who was afraid of everything when she was that age,and I've also had a VICIOUS 3 week old pup: <<<

I have an 8 year old jack russel who has the same problems from time to time. I've learned that some times you have to take them to the vet, even though its going to cost you at least $50. Thats the price you pay to be a good pet owner..

BUT, the humidifier, pedialite and water (some times you have to force them to drink it) does work like everyone else said. You have to make sure they drink alot alot alot of fluids, like every hour on the hour or they get dehydrated very fast.

If the dog is to the point that they are laboring to breath and very hot to touch, then you need to get him to a vet. They can give him a steroid shot that will relax his throat and stop the swelling. Its worth the money if you love your pet.

In addition to administering the medicine your vet will give you, keep the dog warm and make sure he/she has plenty of water to drink. If your home is dry, you can also run a vaporizer or humidifier to keep the air moist and make it easier for your dog to breathe.

Great success with a daily cod liver oil capsule. Works for
cats too. No milk as it promotes mucus. They like the fish
flavor anyway so usually do not resist.
