How do I check the plugs and coil on my Jimmy

Remove the spark plugs & look at them.If the center electrode is rounded down,its time for a tune up.Replace spark plugs,dist cap & rotor,fuel filter .Maybe plug wires too.Good luck

id start by determining whether its one cylinder missing or multiple cylinders does your jimmy have a late nineties 4.3l vortec? they had some problems with the injectors plugging up. you can check your wires by misting water from a spray bottle on them and watching for a spark coming through the insulation

The most like cause are in this order, plugs distributor if it has one, wires, intake leak, timing, dirty throttle plate defective pcv valve, moistre in cap or roter, if a coil pack the a defective diode in one of the coil packs. And water in the fuel or bad fuel, plugged fuel filter, o2 sensor defective causing a lean roll condtion and a partial plugged catalitic converter. Stickin valves. dirty throttle plate.
