This Decorator's Icing will work great on any cake.
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup (4 ounces) butter, softened
2/3 cup shortening
1 pound box powdered sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
milk or water
PREPARATION:
Cream butter and shortening with electric mixer. Add powdered sugar and mix well. Add vanilla extract and continue to beat for several minutes until almost white. When ready to pipe through pastry tube, thin slightly with water or milk, added a tablespoon at a time.

White Decorator's Icing



Yield: Makes about 2 cups
Ingredients: 2egg whites
1/2teaspoon cream of tartar
4cups sifted powdered sugar


Preparation: 1.Combine egg whites and cream of tartar in large bowl. Beat with heavy-duty electric mixer on medium speed until foamy. Beat in sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, beating until very stiff. Use within 1 hour. Cover with damp, not wet, paper towel until ready to use. (Icing is best for piping decorations you want to completely harden.)
