The same reason there is no category for Multi-Sport (Triathlon), Motocross, Skateboarders, Sewing, Surfing or lacrosse - Yahoo hasn't gotten that far yet! I am going to investigate how to go about suggesting a category and I will make sure I mention your suggestions as well!

Agreed - there needs to be a category for that. This spot seems to be filled with questions about skateboarding and airsoft rifles. What are airsoft rifles anyways? One time, I asked a question about Adventure Racing, which is an actual sport, and the only answer I got said, "the Iditarod is an adventure race." No, the Iditarod is a race that is an adventure. It is not an Adventure Race. I would like a section where I could get my outdoors sports questions answered by people who know what they're talking about!
Go Badgers! (I refer to the Bucky I spoted above.)

I agree the categories are lousy you just can't lump everything into outdoor recreation (makes it sound like your talking about summer camp ) , because it's too broad.
The outdoor recreation sports can't be lumped in with campers and backpackers needs to be separated like hunting and fishing. Don't forget ORIENTEERING.
Rowing, Sailing, and Kayaking/Canoeing are under water sports , but again this is broad so create boating sports-then have separate sub categories.
