I believe the newer courses are going to High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) also a large number of courses that are retro fitting their systems. It seems to have increased durability over PVC.

Depends on whether it is a main or a lateral. Most lateral (actually crossing the golf course is 6 to 8" PVC pipe.
