Well if you are looking for restaurants you should check out Mia Francesca. It's a great place on Clark Ave, I believe it is Clark and School. Food is great, fun atmosphere and it's not too pricey. We were there the other night, there were 5 of us with a bottle of wine and tip included it worked out to $36/person and we left a 20% tip.
I agree with all the posters about checking out metromix, also check out citysearch, they've got ideas for dates as well.

Navy Pier can be fun but there are a lot of spring breaks right now and it seems over run with tourists. You don't say what time you are going out, here are somethings that I've found:

Tapas are always fun, as is sushi.
If you like sushi, definitely go to Coast on Damen just north of Armitage. Best sushi in town, not too expensive and BYOB! You'll need a reservation though - it gets packed.
My GF and I just went our for italian at 2 different spots on the north side - both were great.
Topo Gigio in Old Town - 1500ish N wells was the better of the two - very busy, but affordable - get reservations
Sage in Lincoln Park on Clark just north of Fullerton was good too...

Angelina Ristorante
3561 North Broadway
Chicago, IL 60613
(773) 935-5933
A terrific date place -- wonderful food and wine, intimate decor, friendly staff. Every meal I've had there has been my favorite. Near the lake, easy to get to by L, bus, or car.
Have a great time!

I like Angelina's, but you should also look into Twist. They serve Tapas, so you eat and order as you go. Also, they have great Sangria and a good vibe.
Look it up on Metromix and see if this is the kind of place you are looking for.

your question is too vague....give a $$ figure next time you post. if you can't afford anything, don't date....get a better job first...dating is expensive...if you haven't noticed. use metromix.com you can search for places that are $0-$8, $8-$15, $15-$25, and then up from there.
