Thanks for the answers so far, I should have added that I have already been doing the one mile every other day routine since the beginning of march.

I guess taking that into account might change the answer...

Thanks again.

Definitely if you are just starting out - half a mile a day every day is a better way to go. Once you have built the endurance, then you can keep increasing the distance. Slow, but steady - and more likely to last.

Once you start skipping days ... it gets too easy to skip the day after as well!

To start with jog only for half mile. Do not increase the distance all of sudden. Get your body used to a short distance first then go for a long run. ;)

Two miles a day, every day. No stopping and starting, run two full miles without a break. Then shower, 'cause youse will be a stinker after the run...seriously, that's much better than your two mentioned alternatives.

half a mile a day, but it wouldn't do much since it only takes like 5 minutes. half a mile a day keeps your heart working everyday and you can run everyday without tiring your muscles.

I would continue doing the one mile every day and add a lil' more every third day, before you know it you will be running a marathon!!!
