Remember when they are screaming at you and making you do stupid things that make no sense and you just want to cry and stop... that THAT is exactly when you need to take a deep breath and remember why you are there and keep going.

Things aren't supposed to make sense. They might make you dig a hole and fill it up again. They are testing your mental toughness. Your body may give out after enough time but your will never has to.

Hey girl, congratulations on your decision to join the army. I was in the army, and the only advice I could give you is to prepare yourself for a lot of yelling and screaming from drill sergeants, at least for the first 2 weeks of basic training. In addition try to pass your first PT test so that you can make squad leader or maybe even PG or APG, therefore being able to schedule yourself for the first shift of "fire guard" which sucks if you have to do it in the middle of night. Oh, also be sure not to drop your gas mask in the gas chamber otherwise you will have to go a second time trough the gas chamber and believe me it is horrible. Good luck!!!

.
This discipline will come with the territory.
I would be more concerned with preparing myself physically and mentally for discharge when your time is up.
Many have problems fitting back into society after combat.

just keep a level head and remember you will be doing what each of them has done prior. the training will prepare you for everything.

not joking - learn to keep quit - learn to listen
you may already have these traits so I am not picking at you
you will be told what to do and how to learn
best bet is learn how to ask questions without drawing attention to yourself. (watch for the ones that do it wrong, you will learn fast)
After basic training - then move at your own speed.

just listen and learn the lessons. Because no matter what you are always gonna be wrong. or one other will always mess it up for you. if you can deal with this and ecpet it your are gonna do fine and go far.

You really don't have to do much: the Army will do that for you when they train you! It's part of the training philosophy!
