I am going to be traveling to Brazil this June and don't know which day I will be traveling. Can I still apply for my passport now? As this is a busy time and the new passport laws are out I want to get it done well ahead of time. Can I expedite my passport even if I am not leaving for a few months? the site says that expedited passports are taking up to a month to process. i dont wanna take any chances.

No you do not need an exact date. I think it's really smart of you to plan and prepare now. It makes no sense to leave it for the last minute.

You can and should apply now. It can take up to 6 weeks unless you pay for expedited passport. To say "June" is fine. You may need a visa to get into the country which may require a date, but the passport does not! Happy Trails!

If you are not traveling until June you shouldn't need to expedite your passport but I would advise applying for it right away. You do not have to give a specific date of travel. Check out they governments web site for more information on getting a new passport.

You can apply for a passport at anytime. I applied for one a couple of months ago and I didn't need a reason to apply for it...i.e. go on a trip. It only took about a month for my passport to come in the mail so I wouldn't worry too much and just go ahead and get it as soon as you can.

you can use an estimated travel date and pay the expedite fees - there is no penalty if you do not travel on that date. right now it is taking 28 days to process even if the expedite fee is paid.

You should go ahead and apply for your passport now....so if any mistakes made on it they will correct it in time......and they usually ask when are you going to be traveling.
Best wishes and good luck

No you just need to let them know the general time frame you think you'll be traveling.
