If the cat is running after a mouse that is alive and you don't want it hurt try to catch it in a humane trap, like placeing a bowl over it. Personally I just let the cat's go after them to keep them out of the house. That and it helps to develope natural hunting skills. If the cat has killed the mouse already i would get it away from the cat in fear it'll get sick.

i have 10 cats an never had mice problems in my house. except when 1 of my cats outside brings 1 in to play with it.i try not to let my cats eat mice or birds because they could be sick an cat could get sick from eating them. my cats look sad if i can get mouse or bird away from them an get rid of it. but it is for the better of ur pets health. just natural for cats to go after mice an birds.

I wouldn't really be concerned about saving the mouse, but I wouldn't want my cat keeping it. They can get tons of diseases from mice.

My family tried to save the gopher that my cat attacked, but the cat is quicker then us, and it died. (We didn't let my cat keep it, though.)
