you should have read abotu all of this online before you got the piercing. you arent supposed to go swimming for the next 3 to 4 months.. sorry to burst your bubble! i got mine done right when summer kicked in and i couldnt go swimming! yes it sucks but you will be alot better off.. tanning shoudl be okay. as long ar you dont have any oils, sunscreen or lotions around your navel. but you are supposed to wait 3 to 4 months before simming in a pool, lake, ocean, ect... due to an increased risk for infection

navel piercings can take up to fully heal since there is so much bending and twisting where the piercing i located. it also depends how well you take care of it. iek following the aftercare. and followign all of the neccessary precautions (like swimming) but its commen for the navel piercing to tak ea full year to heal.

you will know when its healed inititllay why it stops lymohing (discharge) crusties on your jewely, boogers, whatever you want to call them! mine is almost done..it hasnt been lymphing asm uch lately, hardly at all!

you also wont be able to change it for 3 months.. even then you will still need to go to the piercer and have them chage it for you. avoid the dangle jewelry at all cost fdurign the healing time as these items can snag and prolong the healing process

EDIT:
please take a look at this site as most peopel on here are wrong abotu the healing time

also i always use this site to research all of my future piercings na the possible complications and risks that are with them.. liek for navel piercings its rejection and migration. i suggest you read those articles as well to be educated and look for any changes with your jewelry/piercing.

please research b4 you pierce next time!

my piercer told me not to swim in chlorine until it was healed, i waited about two months. I could swim in the ocean all I wanted. I did research on navel piercings, sites said it took 6 weeks to a year to heal. Long time. Um if you go tanning, i would say keep some h2Ocean on it. Mine's healing up pretty good. I'd at 3 months and i don't have discharge (pussy stuff that didn't start until like 2 weeks after i got pierced). I used to change it and lose where it was supposed to come out and i'd bleed a little. Ouchie. But It never got infected, it looks great.

obviously, everyone's experience will vary, different people's bodies reject it. Some people get infected. Just make sure you take care of it, obviously. :)

Wait at least 6 weeks before swimming or tanning again.

Pools, lakes and the ocean have lots of bacteria in them. Normally it's not a problem, but you have an open wound, so it's best to avoid swimming untill it's past the initial healing period.

Tanning can dry skin, and you don't want to get oils/lotions in or around your new piercing. If you must go tanning, make sure you avoid putting lotions around the piericng.

your piercer should have answered most of these questions swimming is a big no until it's healed laying in the sun is OK tanning lotion keep it far away from the piercing tanning beds as long as it does not get to hot use uniodized salt water soaks and healing is different for every one but 4 to 6 weeks is about normal for navels you know it's healed win there's no redness or pain always wash your hands before messing with it

SO you probably don't wanna do either for atleast a month or two. the navel is one of the easiest infected piercings, and you don't want to risk that. It actually takes about 3 months to completely heal. It's sooner for some, but I know quite a few people who took theirs out too soon thinking it was healed, and it closed up on them. good luck
