Alexander Vinokourov. He has the legs and experience. Plus after last year, he has a year's worth of anger built up from his teammates' involvement in Operation Puerto causing him to be dropped from the Tour. And now since Operation Puerto was a bust, he has more reason to be angry.
Basso is a possibility, but he will concentrate on the Giro. To win them both would be tough, although not impossible.

Call me John Tesh then. The debacle with the corrupt anti-doping agencies lat year ruined what would have been a TREMENDOUS Tour de France, and the opportunity to see Basso, Ullrich, and Vino duke it out will be forever lost.
But Basso has already shown he's got the talent to win grand tours, and now he has the best team backing him up. He is getting older, and this may be his last chance for TDF glory, so I think Basso is gonna give 'em hell!
Unless Dick Pound and his French cronies f*ck up another one.

FLOYD LANDIS..... err - never mind! Hello, my name is John Tesh, former ET co-host and producer of that famous album "Tour de France"! You've heard of it before, no? I have to go with Basso on this one. He has the engine, the team and the directuer sportif and oh, experience of one who stood on the top of the podium for this particular race 7 times. I feel he would have won last year if not for Puerto that closed the door on him for the TdF. I would like to see if he could defend Giro and go for the yellow in July. I think he could do it.

I will go with the obvious, depending on which one gets the best start. It will be one of Discoverys riders. Both Ivan Basso and Levi Leiphiemer have had impressive springs, both have the talent and the team to get them to the podium.
Big George is having a great spring also, and is ready to lead another American to Paris.
