So i been thinking this over for years and i know i have decided to start my sleve with a art piece of the man (vincent) himself. This would be "the starry night".

How would you judge me just by looking at my tattos? And whats your take on this?

This will also be my first tattoo.

i love vincent van gogh's work and have thought before about possibly getting starry night tattooed BUT the brush strokes are so very unique and complicated that it would be a very intricate tattoo to have done and would likely take double the time that a regular tattoo would. i just don't have the patience for a tattoo like that. speaking from experience, i am over 11 hours into a tattoo and it is not finished yet. i just don't think i'd be interested in getting something so complicated that it took longer than a regular tattoo to get.

as for getting a sleeve for your first tattoo... not really the best idea because there are a lot of people who get tattoos and realize afterward that tattoos really aren't for them. plus there is a social stigma against people with visible tattoos and you may not be prepared to deal with that for the rest of your life. just some stuff to think about.

Wow.....I actually think that you have a great idea for a sleeve. I would pick an artist that specializes in reproductions.
Or course something designed to go on a flat canvas will have to be altered to fit a rounded surface like your arm but that is why you get the best artist you can find

good luck

if i saw that tattoo i would be in awe. i love when people get classic art on them because it shows they're actually into the arts. i have the winged victory statue tattooed on my arm to symbolize victory, and also my love for greek mythology. it'll get you extra point with art majors, good choice!

well I think it sounds awesome! I have two tattoos and while as they are not nearly as...ahem...prominent as a sleeve (plus I am a girl..) I think that tattoos are an awesome to express individuality.

I think you should go for it!

plus...a lot of women find it really sexy! ;-)
