cause a shock deady enough to kill someone when droped in a tub? Which ones are reasonbly safe to keep around a tub?

Any outlet in your bathroom, especially near to the tab should have a Ground-fault-circuit-Interrupter (CFCI) which automatically turns off electricity. So replace your outlets and you will be much safer.
