I see tolerance all around. I see a few militant folks who seem to think it is their job to convert everyone (from a couple different faiths) but overall I see interesting, thoughtful responses from people trying to answer from the only perspective they can - their own.

See I think if we want to promote religious tolerance we need to act as if it is the norm already. Show genuine surprise at intolerance and plainly disregard it out of hand so people are embarassed at their responses or realize they are wasting their time here.

I think people are growing more tolerant as an natural evolution of our species, personally. I think the crazy loud detracter we hear now are the last dying screams of an old and outmoded way.

Peace!

I am very tolerant, I believe everyone has the right to believe as they wish, that there is not one absolute right or wrong. But then, I have taken the blinders off and studied other religions in depth. Unfortunately some are so blinded that they will never understand, nor try to understand other beliefs. They are taught to accept, never question what they have been told. It is unfortunate, but many will never be able to see beyond that. In life you can lead by example, but on Y/A it is easy to close your eyes and minds without ever actually meeting someone with a different view. And the anonymity makes it very easy to preach and criticize.

I'm perfectly tolerant of other religions; what I have a problem with is those who can't resist telling me I'm going to hell or worshiping demons or other garbage like that, and who have a need to tell me that my beliefs are any more silly than theirs.

I have no problem discussing religion; I'm a minister in my own faith, and I'm prepared to do so. The problem is that many can't discern the difference between attacking and discussing.

You can't discuss and condemn at the same time.

ya on the internet, people are much more nasty and rude because they dont think before they speak, and are constantly hurting feelings and bullying, because they know its not as personal and u wont get in as much trouble as you would in real life. also, you mostly remain anyonymous, so people are much more racist/anti-semetic. i agree, people can be SOO intolerant, and maybe its a lack of will to change? people are stubborn, and lazy, so its really hard to get someone to change unless something major happens... people have been arguing about religions for centuries. its probably not gonna change anytime soon...=/

We really can't... everyone makes their own choices. But it's not so hard to minimize the nasty ones and build connections with the tolerant ones.
