Just sound......No performance gain.. The Mopar part is just a plate with holes that releases boost pressure outside, or "to the atmosphere".. normally boost is recirculated back into the intake and so with this plate you can hear the blow-off more.

A blow off valve replaces the stock air-bypass valve. The problem with bov's is that it does not recirculate the air back into the the intake system like abv's, this results in a breif moment where the engine runs very rich. This can actually hurt performance and increases exhaust gas temperatures. If your serious about performance and dont want to look like a fast and furious freak, forget the bov.

Neither. It's there to prevent compressor surge, which occurs when the throttle is closed while the turbo is still producing boost. The sudden increase in pressure can damage the throttle body, and a blowoff valve vents this excess pressure to the atmosphere, producing and audible hiss. It provides no real performance enhancement, it is a safety device to prevent damage from occuring to the TB.

BOV's release the pressure build up from superchargers or turbos on decelleration so your engine won't explode from excess boost pressures in your engine and allows your engine/turbo etc to "Spool Down" to the boost limits preset at the factory to maintain reliability of the drivetrain
