In additon to all the alarm tips above, try drinking two glasses of water at bedtime. You will wake up early because your body will let you know you have to urinate. Works EVERY time.

Sit the alarm clock away from the bed so that you have to get up to shut it off. When you do this head straight to the shower. After you get that done you should be pretty much awake. If you have a coffee maker with a timer then set it to start perking at 4:30am. That way after you get out of the shower you can head for the kitchen and coffee will be waiting.

I agree with the people who say to move the alarm away from you. Also, if you could set another alarm such as a cell phone alarm 15 min later than your regular alarm, that might help too. That's what I do.

My clock in my bedroom is 20 minutes fast. For some reason this helps. I also set my alarm clock 10 minutes earlier and if I want tohit snooze once for 10 minutes extra of sleep. If I know I have to get gas or ciggs I know I'll be anxious and I'll get up and use the extra 10 minutes.

I used to do the same exact thing everyday. I moved my alarm clock across the room so I had to get up to turn it off, and, you may not want to do this, but sometimes i put a bunch of stuff on the floor so just in case I sleepwalk over there I'll trip and that stuff wakes me up. It kind of hurts, but it works.

Have five of your friends that are early riseres, give you a call in the morning. I am sure that all of them wont forget to call.
There are also wake up services that will call you for sure for a small fee.
This is just the first weakness in your life. Therre will be many more to cm=ome as you get older. First it is not wanting to get out of bed, then it is your stomach is a little big, then it is drinking a little too much etc. Any time a negative trait starts to become you, stop it as it is just the tip of the iceburg

If you have a second alarm clock you could set it for a minute or two after the first one goes off. Usually waking up a second time helps.

The problem is we sleep in 90 minute cycles. That's why if you wake up before your alarm and go back to sleep you are groggy. That 20 minutes is important to get through your sleep cycle. But if you must wake, you must... good luck!

i had the same problem(hitting the alarm and going back to sleep)
what i did was i moved the alarm clock into my bathroom so that in order to turn it off, i would have to get up and walk to the bathroom, so by that time i was awake enough to know that i couldnt afford going back to sleep.
also i started going to bed earlier so that i could have enough sleep so to not be as tired in the morning

natural sunlight has shown to stimulate the brain better than anything to wake you up, because you are getting up at 4.30 this may be difficult, turn on some lights (not florescent; those won't stimulate your brain the right way). also your brain gets dehydrated at night and you should drink some WATER immediately. eat something to raise your blood sugar level.
the more you move around the higher your temperature will get and the more awake you will feel.
