I have a complicated situation..My grandparent and I have had a falling out due to my father and I not having a relationship..I had not spoken to my grandparents in almost a year until recently around Christmas time..I have not seen them in over a year and I am going to be by their house on friday for a job interview..I was thinking of calling them to see if I could stop by for a visit..I'm nervous to call as to what they might say since I have not spoken with them since Christmas.I was not the one who chose to not see them or speak to them and when i did talk to them they seemed happy to hear from me. The only thing is that I asked them if we could get together and they said they would get back to me and have not..So I'm wondering is it a good idea to call and ask or just not even bother?

call them. Say "I am going to be in the neighborhood, and wanted to se eif you'd be avbailable to visit. I miss talking to you all."
If they blow you off, it is done. Maybe try again in a few months.
If they say yes, do not ask for or accept money, or any gifts, or if they offer a gift, accept it reluctantly.
Otherwise it will look like you only talk to them when you want something.

Here is a secret that it takes some people a lifetime to learn and then some people never ever learn it. These people end up being bitter and having dysfunctional relationships with their children and grandchildren and can't understand what went wrong. Your grandparents (or parents) are never going to change their stubborn ways to suit you. So if there is to be a successful relationship between you and your grandparents, it's going to have to be initiated by you. If I were you I would continue to make the effort to have a relationship with them even if it means you having to do all the work. It is very important that you honor your grandparents, so all will go well with your life. It will make you a happier person. You might call and ask them if you can come over.
Or you could email or write a letter asking if it would be OK to call them.
I don't know the background of whats happened, but most grandparents would love to have contact with their grandchildren. It's very sad when something comes between family members.
Do all you can and best wishes. Sometimes a hurt for whatever reason just takes time to heal. Maybe it has to do with your parents and not you. Pray also.

I was just in that situation. Call first, tomorrow. U want to find out a head of time. If u wait until the day of your interview u might hear something that u didnt want to hear and that might make u upset for your interview. So call to see how they are doing if it sounds like they want to go back and say what u really dont wanna hear. Just say in a nice way Well I just call to see if u guys was okay. and to let u know that I was thinkin of u. Luv u, ok Bye. That is how easy u have to make it.

I think it's a fantastically wonderful idea for you to call and ask. They may be having a hard time of it, feeling that if they are nice to you, they are somehow betraying their son. But I truly think if you make the first move, they will be open to seeing you.
And if they are not, at least you know you made the effort, which means a lot in your situation. You are being very mature in the situation, and I admire your willingness to keep trying to contact them. Good luck to you. I sure hope it works out!!

Your family is the only thing in life you can count on being there for you, if I had to crawl back on my hands and knees I would.. Just let your pride down a little dont let your anger flair and call them and ask if you can come and see them.. You might want to think like this, if something was to happen to one of them how would you feel knowing you never said good bye or you were to scared to pick up the phone.. good luck tho...

Just try and see them if that's what you want and if they don't want to see you then just remember you done your part and that's all you can do.I wish you all the luck with your grandparent's and I hope they grow up and come around.

They are your grandparents. Perhaps they have forgotten. Memory weakens over time so this may be a possibility. Nothing else.

It would the best thing to do if you call them. It would be hard to break the silence between you but I tell you, it will be all wirth it. It is okay to be nervous but don't let it overcome you. Control your nervousness, not your nervousness control you!
