Ya gotta be kidding... *No*! They are, like us, mammals. And didn't this get taught at your school? (Try using Google or similar for this OT stuff.)

A bat is a bird, just like a whale is a fish.
Before modern classification methods, no one in their right minds would have referred to them as "mammals". When scientists came up with their classification schemes, the extremely bird-like bat, which everyone on earth would have called a bird at the time, was suddenly called a mammal.
In the future, science may, and probably will, classify all animals in a completely different manner. At that time, a bat will no longer be a mammal, but as "whatever they come up with". Who knows, maybe they will classify it as a type of "bird" again because there is no reason to assume that certain physical attributes are greater than another.

As much as dolphins are fish.
Bats are mammals. While they do fly like birds, they also give birth to live young and have fur. Birds, on the other hand, have feathers (no fur) and lay eggs. Connecting the two species by saying they fly can be crossed to saying that butterflies are birds just because they fly, too. (And it would also be saying that bats are butterflies and vice-versa.) Of course, this is not true at all, as butterflies are insects (COMPLETELY different kind of animal) and birds are, obviously, birds. Butterflies don't even have the same kind of skeleton as a bird or a bat.
Just because two species share one characteristic does not mean under any circumstances that the two are related. They simply might've evolved down the same general path.

Bats are mammals flat out. Birds are not. Are insects birds because they fly?
